She is going to transfer the title to his name. What is the process for doing so and how long will it take?
Kat 5/28/06

A : If she is going to put the title in his name, then you really would not be doing a rent to own as he would own it. If she wants to transfer title, she could do a note and deed of trust. If she wants to keep the title in her name, then she could do a contract for deed. Neither one takes more than a few days.
Fred Greenstein 6/05/06

Q : My husband and I are purchasing a house. The financing has been done, on my income only, since he has not been responsible in his financial history. I was told that he has to be on the deed. We live in Iowa. My concern is that someone could take our home, due to his past bills etc. He owes back child support, though he is paying at this time. Does he have to be on the deed, and are there any issues to worry about.
Anonymous 5/11/06

A : At least in Missouri, he would not have to be on the deed (title). Iowa may have different laws. Check with an attorney in Iowa.
Fred Greenstein 5/17/06
